So much to Appreciate!

Welcome to the home of Spirituality and Wellness on the Web, where I hope the readers appreciate these vignettes!

Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother’s House we go, the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh in the wild and drifting snow! For some 20 years and more,  my  husband, two sons and I would  set out from our West Virginia home, heading toward my parents’ in PA for Christmas. My heart filled with Christmas cheer, I’d burst forth with this song. Now  circumstances have changed and I live at my parents, taking care of them. My children are young adults, traveling here. And my heart is no less filled with cheer as I welcome them into my arms.

I appreciate the cars that carry my sons and husband here.  I appreciate the roads upon which the cars aredriven.  I appreciate the gasoline and the gas stations.  I appreciate their SAFE TRIPS and their days off from their work, so that they could come here.  I appreciate their big smiles and big hugs.  I appreciate their conversations and their good humor. I appreciate all the food and laughter. I appreciate the cozy family room and the beauty of the Christmas tree and decorations. I appreciate the interest we show in each other’s lives.  I appreciate the TIME we have to sit together and be in the NOW with each other. I appreciate their help in the kitchen.  I appreciate the Love we share!

Grandmother Pa”Ris’Ha taught me the Cherokee word, “Wado.”  She says that it is good to use this word which means “I appreciate.”  In the modern world, we use the word “appreciation” to talk of how money saved in a bank increases, or appreciates.  “Wado” has  similar connotations. Life experiences can be this way too. As Oprah Winfrey said: What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.

So tonight, I am focused on appreciation for my  family and for the blessing of Sacred Love that can bring a New Heaven and a New Earth to humankind….if only we will appreciate it!
