{"id":1214,"date":"2023-11-16T15:30:56","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T20:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wellnessandspirituality.net\/?p=1214"},"modified":"2024-11-01T17:41:38","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T21:41:38","slug":"into-the-woods-in-silence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wellnessandspirituality.net\/?p=1214","title":{"rendered":"Into the woods in silence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>&#8220;Your stillness allows all life around you to grow. \u00a0Listen&#8230;there deep inside you are subtly aware of movement&#8230;softly it comes.&#8221;&#8230;Grandmother Pa&#8217;Ris&#8217;Ha<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;\">I can&#8217;t say enough about silence. \u00a0Ha Ha&#8230;.isn&#8217;t that a paradox! \u00a0But truly, silence works for me.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I was a child, my father would take me and my sisters into the woods for Sunday afternoon &#8220;camping&#8221;&#8211;we called it. \u00a0We found a nice secluded spot, built a little fire circle and \u00a0roasted hotdogs&#8230;we were trespassing but we never thought about that. \u00a0(Times have changed.) \u00a0To us, the woods around our home in central Pennsylvania belonged to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>As we walked to our little campsite, \u00a0rustling through the undergrowth, playful and chattering, my father would suddenly speak, saying: &#8220;Stop! Listen!&#8221; We followed orders. The mood changed \u00a0to one of expectation. Of waiting. \u00a0Almost breathless. To see what quiet things would make themselves known to us.<\/p>\n<p>So now, 50 years later, I go into the forest of my soul and stop and listen and wait&#8230;.in silence.
