Look what’s happening in Egypt! Amazing and awesome! The old ways are falling. Are these the birth pangs of a Golden Age? Here’s the awesome Golden Age project that I envision for a stunning piece of land near the north rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
First let me preface by saying that this is a project of the Learning Center for Human Development (LCHD). It’s designed to serve as a platform for sharing and demonstrating the path and disciplines of “Nuwati.” The Learning Center is a non-profit humanitarian organization founded over 40 years ago by Elder and mentor, Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha.
“Nuwati” is a Cherokee word that has no real counterpart in English of which I am aware. A complete explanation of Nuwati can be quite involved. It is the Path of Medicine in the Native way of using “Medicine” which is far more expansive and all-embracing than the mainstream use of the term. This “medicine” aspect of “Nuwati” implies a peaceful, thriving and healthy world and a lifestyle that maintains the world as such. To walk in the way of Nuwati means to walk in balance and harmony upon the Earth Mother and with our fellow creatures, human and otherwise.
Nuwati is, additionally, the “Complete Authority in Nature” and “the One that Is in All Things.” And it is the path whereby humans experience the realization that this is, indeed, what THEY are.
The path of Nuwati is the Ideal modus operandi of a human being. You could say it means mastering the Tao. You could say it entails everything on the Eightfold path…Right understanding; Right thought/right intention; Right speech; right action; right livelihood; right effort; right mindfulness; right concentration. Virtue, earthly accomplishment, Christ consciousness/enlightenment, compassion,–health, abundance, happiness would be the outcomes of walking this path fully.
All this being said…I’m sure you get the picture…the Project entails creating a beautiful home for the Learning Center for Human Development. I like to picture a larger central adobe structure in the nature of a school with workshop rooms and a large assembly hall, library, tech center, dining facilities, business offices. Surrounding this are smaller “outbuildings” and dwellings. The dwellings would be both permanent faculty dwellings and temporary guest dwellings. There would also be highly developed organic gardens, a state-of-the-art alternative energy system, waste water treatment facility and water conservation system. All would be designed to demonstrate the ideal of living in balance and harmony on the planet…in right relationship with all.
The facility would be designed to promote a communion with Nature….houses are small to encourage outdoor activity and the accumulation of little stuff. We would have a fire circle and numerous courtyards.
A medicine wheel and ceremonial dance arbor would be essential and central features…so that we can celebrate the Sacred gifts of all the universe in a manner that was “given to us in the First World”, as Grandmother says, before we “fell” from paradise.
I have spent my adult lifetime dreaming of a Golden Age for humanity. We can bring an end to war, starvation, strife, imbalance, pollution, disease, all the bad stuff in general. Who would not wish to bring this sort of dream to a reality?
